Meet the founder
Hi, I'm Syed, the engineer behind ifso! I built it to answer my own money questions, and I hope it helps you answer yours too.
I've spent over seven years as a software engineer across AI and full-stack engineering work, and I'm currently building in the EdTech space. I hold bachelor's degrees in Computer Science and Management Information Systems, and a master's in Computer Science from UT Austin, where I focused on machine learning. I've loved building things for as long as I can remember, and ifso is the project I'm proudest of.
Why I built it
The tool I wish existed.
I was weighing a real decision: sell my house, rent for a while, then buy again later? Or stay put and upgrade down the road? What if I swapped cars along the way? And would any of it change when I could actually retire?
Existing tools just weren't cutting it. The simple ones tracked a single thing in a rigid way. The heavyweight ones were bloated, unintuitive, expensive, and still couldn't quite model what I wanted to know.
So I built it myself, starting with a terminal-only engine just for me. The more I built, the more useful it got. I made the engine flexible, accurate, and simple to use, wrapped it in a real interface, and put it in front of people.
They found genuine value in it. After hundreds of hours of building, polishing, and testing, ifsois what I'm proud to finally share with the world.
Independent, on purpose
No investors. No ads. No bank linking.
ifsois completely bootstrapped. I build it, fund it, and answer the support email myself. It will never make money by selling your data. The free tier is real and stays free, and the people who upgrade to Pro keep the lights on. That's the whole business model.
The same independence shapes the product, meaning I can focus on building what continues adding value and usefulness to the platform for you.
